A New Cross, a Colombian fashion project with 15 years of history born from the creative mind of designer and creative director Agustin Nicolas Rivero, was the main brand of the inaugural runway show at Colombiamoda 2024, celebrating the 35th anniversary of one of the most renowned and relevant events in Latin American fashion.
On this occasion, the brand presented its latest collection, titled “Proceso”, a tribute to exploration, curiosity, and textile craftsmanship.
Proceso: exploration, curiosity, and evolution in every stitch
The central theme of this collection, “Proceso”, captured the journey between an idea and its outcome, highlighting the importance of exploration and curiosity as fundamental elements in the creative process. A New Cross, as a brand, has been an exercise in resilience rather than speed, and this philosophy was reflected in every garment.
Through this collection, A New Cross emphasized textiles as great containers of memory, where each handcrafted piece, instead of focusing on the ethnic or what we usually associate with craftsmanship, reflected a more hostile zeitgeist resulting from an increasingly ephemeral, global, and constantly moving world.
A perfect balance between craftsmanship and sophistication
Craftsmanship, sophistication, and minimalism have been fundamental pillars for A New Cross. The brand is dedicated to creating garments of exceptional quality that elevate the wearer, turning them into collectible pieces that become part of the individual’s identity for many years, thus creating a new concept in sustainability. A New Cross’s proposal balanced minimalism, sophistication, and manual craftsmanship in its processes, creating high-quality garments designed for a global consumer.
Noble materials and unique details
The inaugural runway show included 30 outfits made from natural fibers such as linen, silk, alpaca, cotton, banana fiber, and fique stitches, and unique details like ceramic buttons from La Chamba. These pieces were the result of a meticulous conceptualization and manufacturing process that took nearly two years of work, reflecting the dedication and attention to detail that have always characterized A New Cross since its inception.
A Performative Showcase
The inaugural show by A New Cross was a sensory proposal that allowed the audience to immerse themselves in a unique experience. Showing an intimate part of the brand, the show offered a journey through the creative mind of Rivero, revealing how a collection is produced amid a global crisis.
Weaving Stories
A New Cross, a project that has always swum against the current of traditional trends, has been characterized by erasing the boundaries between fashion, art, and design.
The inaugural show at Colombiamoda 2024 was an invitation to get closer to that “Proceso” (process) behind the evolution of the brand, where each piece is a work of art that tells a story and becomes a testimony of the time and dedication invested in its creation.
