“Dear, Sincerely” is the latest collection from Los Angeles-based atelier Venia, exploring migration, memory, and the emotional space between departure and arrival. Presented at the historic Travel Town Museum in Los Angeles, the collection reflects on movement as both a physical journey and a transformative human experience, examining how identity is shaped through encounters with new places, cultures, and communities.

The collection takes its title from the familiar structure of a letter. “Dear” marks the beginning, while “Sincerely” signals its conclusion, framing the moments in between as the space where lives unfold. Rather than focusing solely on migration as relocation, VENIA considers the exchanges that occur along the way, suggesting that cultural identity is continually formed through connection, adaptation, and shared experience.

This narrative is reinforced through the collection’s material language. Linen, wool, leather, and viscose establish a foundation rooted in craftsmanship, while traditional garment-dyeing techniques preserve the character of historical production methods. A striped linen woven by one of Japan’s oldest surviving mills further emphasizes the dialogue between heritage and contemporary design, positioning craftsmanship as an evolving practice rather than a static tradition.

Among the collection’s defining elements is a custom-developed textile inspired by handwritten letters, postcards, archival documents, and weathered architectural surfaces. Produced through an experimental double-sided printing process, the print transforms fragments of correspondence into layered compositions that evoke memory without illustrating it literally. Alongside these expressive textiles, Venia’s signature black tailoring introduces a sense of structure through Helix Wrap construction and layered silhouettes designed to shift with movement and wear.

By bringing together historical references, traditional techniques, and contemporary experimentation, “Dear, Sincerely” proposes clothing as more than a record of appearance. Instead, the collection presents garments as vessels of memory, carrying traces of personal histories while reflecting the continual movement that defines both individual identity and cultural exchange.

ABOUT Venia

Founded in Los Angeles in 2014 by industry professionals Christine Ko and Keeter Ly, Venia is an experimental atelier dedicated to avant-garde tailoring. The studio draws on philosophy and the paradoxes of fantasy in postmodern society to create thematic collections defined by asymmetrical shapes, innovative materials, and sustainability practices with meticulous engineering.

Through separates, outerwear and accessories, the studio continues to explore these themes of abstract philosophies and world building in a narrative unique to its founders curiosity of the mystique of nature, the hero’s journey, and the human experience. With an aesthetic rooted in graceful rebellion, Venia creates timeless pieces that are meticulously crafted to be lived in, worn down, remembered and passed on.
