Arthur Montargon focuses his research on the human pessimism surrounding a widespread yet stifled theme, suicide. For his first collection, “Rope & Glory,” a major theme of the first chapter of a work, he concentrates on suicide by hanging, which is the most commonly chosen method to end one’s life in France as well as in Europe. The designer bases his work on theories, personal experiences, archives, and legends, feeding his creativity with a despair that is as raw as it is poetic.
Without choosing a path that dictates how people should feel about it, he lets them decide and reflect freely, without putting pressure on their necks.
