Maison Margiela has unveiled MaisonMargiela/folders, a new project conceived as an open, evolving framework through which the Maison’s core ideas and working processes are made visible. The initiative rethinks how a fashion house can share its archive, both physical and digital, by foregrounding the internal structures, documents, and codes that shape its identity.

At the center of the project are four foundational codes that have defined Maison Margiela’s language over time: Artisanal, Anonymity, Tabi, and Bianchetto. These will be explored through a sequence of exhibitions and immersive experiences taking place across China in April, following the presentation of the Fall–Winter 2026 collection in Shanghai on April 1, where the Maison will appear as a special guest of Shanghai Fashion Week.

Each city will host a dedicated exhibition aligned with one of the codes: Artisanal: Creative Laboratory in Shanghai (April 2–6), Anonymity: Our History of Masks in Beijing (April 7–12), Tabi: Collectors Exhibition in Chengdu (April 9–13), and Bianchetto: Atelier Experience in Shenzhen (April 11–12). All exhibitions will be free and open to the public, with registration opening on March 17.

In parallel, the Maison has made its internal Dropbox folders publicly accessible for the first time. Beginning February 10, these digital archives, containing images, timelines, press materials, and working documents, will be continuously updated, allowing audiences to follow the project’s development from concept to exhibition.
