Presented during New York Fashion Week, Chapter 10 is inspired by the anime and novel Shiki by Fuyumi Ono. Through philosophical reconstruction, this chapter confronts the moment where survival becomes rebellion. SHIKI explores the collision between humanity and an invasive force, a metaphor for modern fashion itself: predatory, cyclical, and sustained by consumption rather than creation. Here, the plague is not external, but systemic. The revenants are no longer monsters, but mirrors, figures condemned simply for existing outside accepted norms. They are SHIKI.
“Everything eventually faces destruction. Everything eventually disappears.”
All fabrics in the collection keep in theme with the brand’s roots, sourced from deadstock recycled Japanese cottons, wool, nylon polyester-blends, etc. This is the first time for Hikari no Yami to include colors. The palette consists of black, white, grey, and red, symbolizing a return to designer Jakarie Whitaker’s origins.
The silhouettes are inspired by Japanese design sensibilities and American streetwear, including wide cut denim, as well as patchwork, blending high fashion with low and deconstructing the traditional notion of what clothes can be.

The footwear this season is a collaboration with Dr. Martens. The designer mixes the idea of leather craftsmanship and familiar silhouettes like the derby and steel toe with the sustainable and avant-garde design philosophy of the brand.
With sustainability at the ethos, Whitaker also collaborated with Supima in terms of fabrication, combining shirting and denim to create individualized pieces.
Chapter 10 is not an answer, it is a realization, a philosophical and aesthetic dissection of identity, chaos, and resistance against the system. Hikari no Yami continues its legacy of crafting fashion as a manifesto, revealing the light in darkness.
