During the latest edition of Bogota Fashion Week, Old Maquiina presented “Chapter 1”, a collection that establishes a clear new direction for the Bogotá-based label. Known for its methodical, narrative-driven approach, the brand uses this moment not simply to showcase new work, but to signal a deliberate reset. After more than five years of conceptual and formal exploration, “Chapter 1” serves as both a point of departure and a distillation of its design language to date.
Founded on a model of serialized storytelling, Old Maquiina treats each collection as a chapter in an ongoing narrative. “Chapter 1” reframes this structure with clarity. The brand positions this new stage as a foundational statement, less a reinvention and more an architectural blueprint for its future output.
The garments rely on the brand’s signature geometry: organic curves and rounded rectangles that have become visual anchors across previous collections. These elements are reintroduced with new precision, underscoring a commitment to formal rigor while allowing room for material experimentation. The silhouettes are clean yet dimensional, each defined by structural integrity rather than ornament.

Timelessness is not proposed as an aesthetic gesture but as a design principle. The collection builds on a monochromatic foundation, continuing Old Maquiina’s use of grayscale to frame its visual system. A brown accent paired with black serves a dual function: a nod to the vintage sewing machine that inspired the label’s name and logo, and a symbolic return to origin. This earthy tone becomes the central element in a chromatic palette that avoids excess while remaining materially rich.
Textures follow concept. The presence of brown evokes soil, bark, stone—material references that tether the garments to something elemental. These material metaphors are subtle and intentional, aligning with the brand’s broader commitment to conceptual coherence rather than surface-level storytelling.
More than a debut or a relaunch, “Chapter 1” reads as a consolidation of Old Maquiina’s vision: narrative without narrative excess, form without repetition, symbolism without sentiment. In a moment where many brands prioritize novelty, Old Maquiina looks inward, recalibrating its foundations while reaffirming its place in Latin America’s emergent fashion landscape.
